5 Books – Kid Series Edition – November 2015

I read vivaciously through my daughter. I make an attempt to read many of her books and it is such fun to see the other side of reading. Books targeted for 6 year olds are so colourful and fun. This month’s 5 books is going to be a compilation of book series kuttyma enjoys reading.

1) Junie B. Jones by Barbara Park

This is where kuttyma begun her series reading. Junie B series is ideal for a beginner reader and is filled with classroom antics and problems that trouble a first grader like losing a tooth and cheating. It is also quite a big series – 28 books and counting. Kuttyma is just outgrowing the series and moving to other books these days.

2) Ivy and Bean by Annie Barrows

The best part about this series are the two characters – Ivy and Bean. They are vibrant and captivating. It is a 10 book series and kuttyma loves them. She is currently on Book 6 and I think this will be one series she will finish off.

3) Horrid Henry by Francesca Simon

Horrid Henry is the boy version of Junie B. Well kind of. Kuttyma never warmed up to the series much but she did read a few books from this series. There are around 24 books in this series and is a great way to get early readers fascinated.

4) Ramona Quimby by Beverly Cleary

Ideal for kids aged 8 and above, this series brings to life siblings Beezus and Ramona. The books are fun and very relatable for young kids. Kuttyma is currently obsessed with these books. There are 8 books in this series.

5) Amelia Bedelia Chapter Books by Herman Parish

Young Amelia Bedelia first entered kuttyma’s life in a picture book. She has since then graduated to the chapter books which are ideal for 6-8 year olds. The books are very relatable dealing with typical kid issues like envy, craziness and hard work. The 8th book of this series came out earlier this year and kuttyma loved reading it.

Honorable mentions –  Magic TreehouseJudy Moody and Friends, Nancy Clancy, Clementine, Flat Stanley’s World Wide Adventure, and the very new series in making Princess in Black.
