I have always believed in using less chemicals around home – especially to clean stuff. I prefer to use water and sponge wherever possible. But the mission to reduce chemicals has increased since kuttyma came into our lives. We have hard wood floors in our main living area and a lil crawler which translates into mopping the floors very frequently. I really did not want to use chemicals meant for hardwood floors so I decided to go green.

For the past few weeks I have been mopping using a warm water + white vinegar mix and I am extremely pleased. Vinegar being a mild acid disinfects and cleans. It is cheaper than regular chemicals and is safe to be used around babies. It is ideal for low traffic areas with not much bacterial action. Try it and you will be amazed what vinegar can do.

I just came across http://giveyourstuffaway.com/ and it seemed pretty interesting. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. It is no government program but if you are interested go to the site, take a look and participate. Am I participating? I have no idea – I am planning to head out of town around that time but if I am in town I will definitely consider being a part of the program.
