Amigurumi (編みぐるみ?, lit. knitted stuffed toy) is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals and anthropomorphic creatures. The word is derived from a combination of the Japanese words ami, meaning crocheted or knitted, and nuigurumi, meaning stuffed doll. Amigurumi are typically animals, but can include artistic renderings or inanimate objects endowed with anthropomorphic features.

I made my first amigurumi for kuttyma – Georgina the giraffe. The pattern came from Lion Brand Yarn’s website. They have some great free patterns and all you have to is register your email id to access the patterns. Take a look at kuttyma’s Georgina!
Finally here are some pictures of the crochet baby blanket I made for kuttyma. Seeing the finished product I feel a relief that I finally got it done. Knowing my history with crafty stuff, in all probabilty it would have been lying around halfdone till my mom or granny decide to rescue it. This is one of the times I wish we had found out if we were having a girl or a boy. Imagine a pink and lavender blankie – perfect for a girl. Well maybe it is an indication that I should start another project…
Oh well….here are the pictures
