I came across this old post in my drafts. Thought I should document it. 

The life of the resident 7 year old seems to be rather interesting. She sounds grownup one minute and just when I can’t handle her being grownup she snuggles into my lap and becomes my baby again. Her world has expanded and I tag along just for the ride.

Kuttyma: Amma, are there classes to be a parent?

Me: Hmm no..

Kuttyma: That must be hard for you.

(Now I wonder what she intends to convey)

She comes back jubilant after a field trip to the zoo.

Me: How was the trip?

Kuttyma: I had a wonderful and interesting conversation with X’s mom.

Me: Hmm

Kuttyma: That was the best part of the trip. She was the chaperone for my group.

Me: What did you talk about?
Kuttyma: Well, this and that.
