My Top Reads in 2016
2016 in general was a up and down year and my reading followed the same trend. I struggled with a major reader’s block and hated myself for not being able to read. It took me quite a while to get over it and then finally I started reading with a vengeance.
Read 2016 in numbers
79 Books (including audio books)
7 Re-reads
These numbers don’t include the hundreds of books my daughter read to me. In fact I have fallen in love with books written for kids aged 8-12. They are such wonderful tales of hope, dreams and magic.

A Child of Books by Oliver Jeffers

I do understand this book isn’t for very young kids. To appreciate the book, you need to be a bibliophile. It is a great book to be in the home library.

AchievementUnlocked – Read 2016
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy.
After years of dreaming about finishing this book, I wrapped it up in the wee hours of 2017. It has left me rather confused. I loved the initial parts of the book but there were places where I feel the book dragged on and on. The book could have been much shorter. But what a wonderful character portrayal. Anna, Lenin and Kitty are so complex that they are real.

Yes, books disappoint. Here are few books I really didn’t appreciate much in 2016.
The Portable Veblen, Modern Romance, Landline.

Non Fiction Top Read 2016
I didn’t read much non-fiction in 2016 and I am not upset about it. The previous years I have tried to read more non-fiction but 2016 was different. One of my favorite non-fiction reads in 2016 was
My Ideal Bookshelf edited by Thessaly La Force

2016 wasn’t a bad year at all. I enjoyed the variety of books and Read 2017 plans are ready. My next post will be about my Read 2017 plans.
