If you are like me, you have probably heard the term “new normal” a million times in the past 6 months and hated it every single time. You probably have even begun the statement saying, “I don’t want to use the term but in the new normal way of operations….”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
New Normal is obviously different from the old one. So different that it needs a prefix to make it stand out. Covid-19 has been filled with bombshells, shocks and new phrases. As a community and as individuals, we are seeing drastic changes in relatively short periods time and we are not comfortable. We have never been comfortable with change, even the pre-planned ones, so forget something so out of our control. And we are smart, so we seek comfort in calling our changes as the “new” normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wearing a mask is a change and yes the new normal. And there are the anti-maskers. I don’t even want to attempt to figure out why they don’t want to wear a mask.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I have been socially distancing for a little over 6 months now. Once, school, work and home morphed into one location, time seemed to travel faster. It still does. Without commutes and in-person social interaction time zips past and I have been relatively content staying home and venturing out only for curbside grocery pickups. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
While the city slowly reopened, I stayed home. I was content moving between my couch, bed, dining chair and work chair. Maybe I was (and am still) lazy. Maybe I was scared. But I just didn’t feel the need to head outside. Maybe this is how I deal with change aka the new normal. I stay in my comfort zone and refuse to embrace the change. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
