Growing up we pseudo celebrated a lot of festivals – meaning we were just involved in the celebrations because our neighbors or friends celebrated them. It was impossible not to get into the festive spirit with so much celebrations around. It was great – we grew up knowing about a lot of festivals. Unfortunately that is not the case today for kuttyma. She lives in isolation and there is no learning outside for her. We knew that will be the case and now that she is ready to understand and learn we thought about an interesting (if we may call it so ourselves) way to teach\/educate her and inturn learn ourselves.<\/p>\n

I have cute console table at the entryway – I usually decorate it with knickknacks I pick up when we travel and I keep changing it around. It is the first thing you see when you enter the home and it is a welcoming sign for me. I decided to get into the festive mood, I will decorate the table with the festival theme – it is a small area so I can do it fast. It is a table and so kuttyma does not play around with it. It is also out of the way so it is not distracting and tempting. It is also a fun project for me as I plan to do it with a minimal budget and stuff lying around home instead of buying new things. I also plan to involve kuttyma as much as possible in the making.<\/p>\n

First stop – karthigai. This is my favorite festival – Deepavali is always about food and crackers while karthigai is about decorating. This year this is how our table looked for Karthigai. A blue-green theme and assorted stuff lying around home, a banner and we are good to go.<\/p>\n
