I am pretty sure every parent had perfected the “freeze”. Most of them do not realize they have a freeze<\/em>. I did not realize it either. It just hit me middle of the night after I had a freeze<\/em> moment. (Did you realize I seem to be having a lot of late night realizations lately?)<\/p>\n

The first whimper from kuttyma I get into the freeze mode. It could be when she is sleeping, playing, eating or whatever. Just the first whimper – I freeze – I stop whatever I am doing and be completely still. Like a statue. My breathing automatically slows down and my brain runs super-fast conjuring ideas on how to calm my toddler. It is as though me being still and making no sound can send a message to her to get back to whatever she was doing and not break into a cry.<\/p>\n
