You know those brochures they put out for tourists at public places? Advertisements – rather slick looking ones colorful and prominently displayed? I am one of those folks who picks them up. All the time – I love to read them. I find it a great source of information. Later they turn into art projects with kuttyma.<\/p>\n

One such brochure I picked up at the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) was about the bridges and the underpass art along Singapore River. Given my fascination with bridges, history and water in general it was no doubt I decided to explore. The pictures look better when you click on them<\/p>\n

Anderson Bridge<\/strong><\/p>\n

Did you know that during the Japanese Occupation of Singapore severed heads of criminals were hung from this bridge as a warning ??<\/p><\/div>\n

Cavenagh Bridge<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Cavenagh Bridge built by the Macgellan before it was shipped to Singapore<\/p><\/div>\n

The only suspension bridge in Singapore. The initial design was for a drawbridge but due to technical issues it became a fixed bridge<\/p><\/div>\n
