{"id":5824,"date":"2014-05-27T20:54:12","date_gmt":"2014-05-27T10:54:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ourowncorner.com\/poohsden\/?p=5824"},"modified":"2016-12-14T12:40:52","modified_gmt":"2016-12-14T18:40:52","slug":"watery-desires","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ourowncorner.com\/poohsden\/watery-desires\/","title":{"rendered":"Watery Desires"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Long after my trip to <a title=\"Review: Travel Hub \u2013 Thailand\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ourowncorner.com\/poohsden\/review-travel-hub-thailand\/\">Bangkok<\/a>, after the thrill of shopping at Chatuchuk market has worn off, after the taste of the green curry with half-cooked brinjals has stopped lingering in my tongue, long after I stopped dreaming about tuk-tuks flashing pink and green lights, long after I stopped craving for coconut icecream served with coconut meat something of Bangkok lingered behind.<\/p>\n<p>A desire, a dream, a wishful fantasy or to be brutally honest &#8211; an improbability.<\/p>\n<p>The waterways of Bangkok fascinate me. They call my name. They continue to haunt me. Long after my trip to Bangkok. They fill me with a lingering desire to explore life along the waterways. The integral way the canals weaves into daily life. I obviously had a very touristy view into the life during my 4 days in the place but I saw every day life peeking out and calling my name. At every bend, at the end of every boat there is a peek of real life &#8211; the lives of people who depend of the waterways for livelihood.<\/p>\n<p>Water has always drawn me. It compels and persuades me to part with my secrets. To tell stories that I lock up within me. To share my tears and fears. The water has hold over me. I have been fascinated by it and lived beside it all my life. River, seas and oceans draw me. I find reasons to take a break beside the waters &#8211; to enjoy the gentle lapping of water and to observe life. The water, the elixir as they call it has a strange power over me and it is this power that makes me dream about Bangkok.<\/p>\n<p>I want to live there and explore life &#8211; walking shoes, trusty phone with maps and no destination in mind. I want to walk, click, savor and store those memories. I want to celebrate, rejoice and live. Maybe I will document it in all &#8211; package it into a beautiful collection. A book maybe? Bangkok and the watery desires remain strong. The wanderlust that surges within me screams Bangkok.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe, someday I will go there. &#8211; not as a tourist. I will immerse myself\u00a0 in the city. Someday I will explore the life along the numerous canals and waterways that feed the city.
