Last Sunday we decided to head to 1770 and Agnes Water – a small town along the Discovery Coast in Australia. It is about 90 minutes drive from home and perfect for a day trip.<\/p>\n

The town of 1770 and Agnes water are sister towns in Eastern Australia dotted with great beaches and pleasant climate. Infact Agnes water is the northern most surfing beach in Australia.1770 was named for the year James Cook landed there and is really a dot in the map. It is also the gateway point to islands further out.<\/p>\n

The view from the park – I could spend hours there. Like most parks I have seen, they have BBQ pits, gazebos, benches and a play ground making them ideal picnic spots<\/p><\/div>\n

Like most places in Queensland I have experienced this town features blue skies and fluffy white clouds, bluish-green water and soft sands that beg you to explore.<\/p>\n

The backwaters and the sand bar provide calm waters. Mangroves, a variety of fishes and sea birds are the other residents you share the area with.<\/p>\n

Mangroves along the backwaters were quite a fascinating topic for kuttyma. We did spend some time talking about them and we plan to do a project on them soon<\/p><\/div>\n

We spent the morning chasing gulls, playing in the water, exploring the sandbars and kayaking. We had lunch at “The Tree” before heading back to the park for some R&R.<\/p>\n

As I laid down on the grass under blue skies, watching the sun between the tall trees, the ocean at my feet, I surrendered to the charm and beauty of the place. I hope I will make another trip to the place soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
