My eyes are always seeking out new and interesting stuff when I hit the supermarkets. I don’t know why I do it but I often discover hidden gems. I discovered Paper Boat’s Jaljeera that way a year or so back. I admit the packaging was the first thing that caught my eye but soon I was hooked the tangy sour notes of the drink hit the right spot. It still remains one of my favorite drinks that I can get off the shelves of the Supermarket (there are few other Paper Boat products on that list).<\/p>\n

Early last month, when I was contacted by Paper Boat to sample and review their products I jumped right in. I mean, I really loved their Jaljeera and nothing is more fun than sampling a few drinks and writing about them. The family was more than happy to assist me in the mission – especially kuttyma. She falls for packaging just like me.<\/p>\n

We started our sampling session with\u00a0imli ka amlana<\/em>. It was an instant hit with me. I loved the perfect blend of sweetness and sourness. It was tangy and left me wanting more. The family concurred. It reminded me of the\u00a0panagam\u00a0<\/em>great-grandma used to make. This might just replace Jaljeera as my favorite.<\/p>\n

I was at the computer typing away for the April A to Z challenge and was craving a drink –\u00a0kokum<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>came to the rescue. The pink color of the drink made it an instant favorite with kuttyma. Flavor-wise, kokum will be a hit if you like the taste of kokum. I don’t so am on the fence about this one.<\/p>\n

We tried the\u00a0aam panaa\u00a0<\/em>next. I was in love. Tangy, cold and refreshing. Perfect summer afternoons need to be spent with this drink and a book. The\u00a0aamras\u00a0<\/em>was traditional sweet mango drink that I grew up with. Kuttyma fell in love. There is something about kids and sweet mango drinks. I barely got a sip out. She finished it off.<\/p>\n

Golgappe ka pani\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Jaljeera<\/em> were the other two drinks from the Paper Boat family.<\/p>\n

Check out their website<\/a>\u00a0– it is such a fun place. It is always fun remembering the past and Paper Boat has been cleverly building on it. Great tasting products, wonderful packaging (which is unfortunately not recyclable) and a journey to the past all for around 25 Rs. Paper Boat is a winner in my books.<\/p>\n

I do hope they launch more flavors and not stick to the current choices. The current choices seems leaning towards tangy flavors. If you haven’t tried Paper Boat products yet – it is high time.<\/p>\n
