Often hailed as the Galapagos of Australia, Kangaroo Island has long been on my wish list for ages. I can successfully mark the place of my list now.<\/p>\n
The island is just minutes off the mainland Australia and beyond it lies Antarctica. Nothing else but just rough seas and ice. It give me goosebumps just thinking about it. A lot of them.<\/p>\n
Kangaroo Island isn’t small. It is 7 times the size of Singapore and has around 4000 permanent residents. No taxis, no public transport and in someways just land forgotten.<\/p>\n
Wildlife is obviously the spotlight in this region – fur seals, pelicans, snakes, penguins, kangaroos, wallabies, possums, koalas and birds. It is everything exotic that makes up Australia in one compact package.<\/p>\n
Beaches, amazing rock formations interwoven with vineyards and eucalyptus trees. It is quiet and serene with the forces of nature doing its work. It is a great place to disconnect yourself from the world and just enjoy life. Sadly, my trip was about ticking off places from my to-visit list. Someday I hope to head back to Kangaroo Island to enjoy its rustic rawness. Someday I hope. Meanwhile, I have memories and photos.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
