I gave up on my resolution to read slow and savour my books. I went into a reading frenzy the first part of March. I had to remind myself to slowdown and went cold turkey. I refused to a book for a grand total of 2 days.<\/p>\n

Here are some book reviews<\/p>\n

1) The name is Rajinikanth by Gayathri Sreekanth<\/p>\n

I got access to a neighbour’s library (long live neighbours who buy books) and this was one of the first books I borrowed from them. I have always wondered what this book contained. I grew up with Rajinikanth fans and movies. I was curious to know more about him and was hoping this book would shed some light on his personality. I was sort of disappointed. It was a book by a fan who seems to be rather dazzled by Rajini. The book also seemed to have a liberal dose of masala sprinkled on it and highlighted only certain portions of the star’s life. 2)\u00a0A Constellation of Vital Phenomena by Anthony Marra<\/a><\/p>\n

Wartime stories are not my favourite. They depress me but I still read them. Mainly because they are beautiful written. The prose and the settings usually make me appreciate my rather privileged life filled with books and internet. A Constellation of Vital Phenomena is breathtakingly beautiful. Set in warring Russia, the book tells the secrets and pain of Sonja, a doctor and Havaa who dreams of sea anemones and their families. This is the book you will need to cuddle with as you watch the snow\/rain fall.<\/p>\n

3) A Year after Henry by Cathie Pelletier<\/a><\/p>\n

I pick some books just because I am intrigued by the title and blurb. This was one such book. Henry Munroe dies suddenly at the age of 40 and the life of everyone around him changes. A year after his death, they all come to terms with his death dealing with it, in their own ways. I liked the way the characters were developed and how Pelletier deals with love and death.<\/p>\n

4) Not that Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham<\/a><\/p>\n

I picked this book up as was in a autobiography\/biography phase. It was one of the widely-acclaimed book for 2014. I didn’t know any of Dunham’s works before I started this book. I was quite intrigued but was sorely disappointed. Not my kind of read.<\/p>\n

5) The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins<\/a><\/p>\n

Got my hands on the new “Gone Girl”. It was an ok read. I had a chance to discuss the book with Gauri of My Big Red Bag. Jump over here<\/a> to read my views on the book.<\/p>\n
