Saying goodbyes is always hard and it was yet again time for another goodbye. I wanted to spend sometime talking, laughing and catching up with an old college friend before I headed out of Chennai. Trying to pick a place to eat in Chennai is hard. The city has too many great places to pick from. I raked my brains and tried asking around. I hopped from one website to another searching for answers. I finally ended up on the AskMe India App<\/a>. A few minutes and I narrowed in on Azzuri Bay.<\/p>\n

I made the reservations and I was glad I did it. Azurri Bay’s best feature is its outdoor seating and they do fill out fast. Even on weekday nights. I saw quite a few groups grow sulky as they were pointed to the indoor rather claustrophobic seating area.<\/p>\n

Azurri Bay won me over with its ambience. It was the perfect place for catching up and goodbyes. It was not overly quiet and had enough space between tables for people to have semi-private conversations. The menu handed over to us gave quite a bit to talk about.<\/p>\n

The menu is all over the place. You can taste food from different regions in India, Thailand, China, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and beyond all while seated at Azzuri Bay. I was quite surprised to see the spread and had a hard time narrowing down my choices.<\/p>\n

We decided to go Pan-Asian route and started off with Thai Iced Tea and a mixed appetiser platter. We narrowed down on Pad Thai and Schezwan Chicken for our main course and a decadent Tres Leches cake to wrap it all up.<\/p>\n

The food was just as perfect as the place. They were delicious and plentiful. I had a hard time trying to critic anything. They were all on the spicier side and a couple of times I did wish I had asked them to tone down the spice. The appetiser platter was a perfect starting point and arrived piping hot. The serving sizes took me by surprise. They were quite large and I did end up taking some Pad Thai back home.<\/p>\n

I had been wanting to have a good Tres Leches cake for ages and I was so glad to see it at the menu at Azzuri Bay. It came topped with kiwis and apples and was gooey and delightful. I could have had it for every meal and not get bored with it.<\/p>\n

The waiters at Azzuri Bay stole the show. They were extremely knowledgeable, professional and courteous. They were good enough to suggest an alternative drink when we ordered some coconut water as they didn’t have a fresh supply. We settled on old-school Nanari sherbet.<\/p>\n

They also serve one estate coffee from North Coorg. These are times I wish I was a coffee drinker.<\/p>\n

The food and the ambience were perfect to catch up and talk. And what a fun conversation it was. Sometimes conversations just flow and days later you wonder what you spent all your time talking about. It was one such evening. And I will be back at Azzuri Bay soon.<\/p>\n
