I am usually a bundle of nerves and emotions and stress a couple of times on a \u00a0normal week (let us not even talk about abnormal weeks). Somehow on the days when I feel the worst are the days when kuttyma\u00a0is at her crankiest. She doesn&#8217;t want to read or do her homework. She is ready to have a tantrum and I am ready to have a yelling match.<\/p>\n<p>To make life easier and joyous for both of us on such days, I pull out my \u201c<strong>COOL Jar<\/strong>.\u201d I let my kuttyma\u00a0pick one of many small pieces of paper in the jar and we go crazy. I can always predict how it will end \u2013\u00a0 hugs and giggles and declarations of love. \u201cYou are the best mom\u201d, she will squeal in delight and collapse on the floor forgetting her crankiness. I will find myself strangely recharged after a minute of our crazy cool jar routine.\u00a0To be the cool mom, is generally never a high priority for many.<\/p>\n<h3>So what is in my Mommy Cool Jar?<\/h3>\n<p>Here are some of my favorite cool jar activities.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tickle Fest<\/li>\n<li>Chocolate\u00a0Stash Raid<\/li>\n<li>Pillow Fight<\/li>\n<li>Moon Watch<\/li>\n<li>Sing Old MacDonald (or other rhymes) in different speeds. The pathos version is bound to be a hit.<\/li>\n<li>Silly Face Contest<\/li>\n<li>Selfie Booth<\/li>\n<li>Dance Party<\/li>\n<li>Yoga time \u2013 Take deep breathes together<\/li>\n<li>Read a magazine together. We both enjoy drooling over recipes and DIY articles.<\/li>\n<li>Pull out the colours \u2013 we colour a\u00a0picture together and abandon it in minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Tea Party\u00a0\u2013 Herbal tea with honey and biscuits.<\/li>\n<li>Make a milkshake \u2013 we usually toss bananas, strawberries and milk along with some ice cubes into the blender for a delicious treat.<\/li>\n<li>Hide and Seek<\/li>\n<li>Bubble Fun (there is something liberating about blowing bubbles isn\u2019t it?)<\/li>\n<li>Piggy back ride (backbreaking fun.)<\/li>\n<li>Read the news together. We usually gravitate to one of the kids news websites and read something together.<\/li>\n<li>Count and organise the coins. There is something absolutely relaxing about this activity. I open my purse and take out all the loose change. We both divide them into groups and add them up.<\/li>\n<li>Arm wrestling<\/li>\n<li>Silly Jokes and Pun time \u2013 we love those.
