<\/p>\nMaking a new list of books to read and planning\u00a0is one\u00a0of the\u00a0things I look forward to doing in a brand new year. It feels neat and clean. It makes me feel organised and on top of the world. Of course like any practical person, I know, January 1 isn’t magically going to set everything right but I do it year after year.<\/p>\n

Over the past few years, reading has been a very important part of my life. I carry my books everywhere I go and go exploring libraries when on vacation. I am under the spell of words and the authors who churn them. 2016 was a pretty decent reading year and I am hoping when I look back at the list of books I read in 2017 I can smile.<\/p>\n

My Read 2017 Plans are very different from the previous years. I don’t have a number or a genre or an author to concentrate on. Instead I have list. Yes, I admit it looks a tad overambitious but I like to shoot for the stars when it comes to reading. I know I will meander from the list quite often as I\u00a0have the tendency to pick up books I see displayed out front in the library. I also end up reading books that are currently being talked on.<\/p>\n

I know there are for and against Murakami camps and blissfully lie in between. I have read a few of his works and don’t have a strong opinion about his works. Reading more of his works will hopefully help me discover the author. Discussing them with @meetneo<\/a> is an added bonus.<\/p>\n I have read three books from the series. I plan to re-read them and then finish the series. Wanderlusting for Italy with @Italophilia<\/a> is an added bonus.<\/p>\n I read books by Anne Tyler in 2016\u00a0and have been\u00a0intrigued by her writing. Anne Tyler’s\u00a0early works are supposed to be some of her best works. I hope to discover more of Anne Tyler in 2017<\/p>\n [bctt tweet=”I would recommend Vinegar Girl to anyone who wants a light hearted and entertaining read. ” username=”vinitha”]<\/p>\n I have often mentioned I haven’t read much of classics. Reading Anna Karenina was a longtime dream and I am glad I got to do it in 2016. For Read 2017 Classics, I plan to revisit Rebecca, Lolita, Pride and Prejudice and A Great Gatsby. I am still toying with the idea of re-reading Gone with the Wind. I also plan to pick random books from the classics section of my local library.<\/p>\n I have read and heard many of his works. I am going to rely on Mr.Dahl to lighten up my days and cheer me up immensely.<\/p>\n [bctt tweet=”The Witches is currently my favorite Roald Dahl read.” username=”vinitha”]<\/p>\n This is going to be my Anna Karenina of 2017. I have long dreamt of reading A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth. I have started before but didn’t get to completing it. That is going to change in 2017. I have been very inspired to read this book by @pallavisms<\/a><\/p>\n The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings have never been on my radar. Read 2017 plans including reading these books and discussing them with @daredevilakshay<\/a><\/p>\n Hercule Poirot and Miss Jane Marple\u00a0have been long time favourites and comfort reads. Agatha Christie’s books gets on my Read 2017 inspired by @k_santhi<\/a><\/p>\n Hosseini’s works have always resulted in water works. I want to re-read them with a box or two of Kleenex on my side.<\/p>\n This book comes highly recommended by many people. Recently,\u00a0@Pradnya_Jadhav<\/span><\/a>\u00a0reminded me to add it on my “must be read asap” list.<\/p>\n I will have monthly updates of my reading list the coming year and regular updates on Twitter<\/a> and Instagram<\/a>.
