<\/p>\nSaturday nights are usually designated as family game night at our household. It is usually\u00a0my favorite time of the week. I look forward to it all week. My 7-year old usually picks up one or two games from our stockpile and we have an hour of laughter, giggles and tears too. Often there is food involved making the whole night a little bit more messier and crazier.<\/p>\n
Family Game Nights are not just fun. They are great ways to bond and spend time as a family. Games also are great learning tools. We usually try to fit in a game night once a week. The number goes up drastically during holidays.<\/p>\n

Here are 10 reasons why you should consider marking a night off as Family Game Night.<\/p>\n
Game nights involve co-operation from all participants. It is the perfect time to remind\u00a0why and how the family needs to get together at all times.<\/p>\n
Often we are in a rush and so are kids. Games teach them patience. They need to wait for their turn and keep still while the other player makes a move.<\/p>\n
Most\u00a0games involve some degree of strategy making. Kids learn when and how to proceed and reach the destination. Definitely a life-saving skill.<\/p>\n
There is usually only one winner. Family Game nights teach children to be good losers. It doesn’t happen overnight. My daughter still sulks when she doesn’t win. But it is lesson she needs to learn in life and I am glad to be providing her the opportunity at home.<\/p>\n
Games don’t just teach children that they are responsible for the course of the game, it teaches them how important it is to clean up. A missing piece can stop a game. Pulling out and putting back the game components is the job of my 7-year old. She is extremely careful these days.<\/p>\n
Playing a game involves paying attention to what other players do. Their mind is occupied and attention span improves.<\/p>\n
All games involve rules and the success of a game night depends on how well we adhere to the rules. Games teach the need to follow rules to achieve results<\/p>\n
We all want our children to grow up into confident adults. Games have proven to help build confidence in children.<\/p>\n
A family that plays together stays together. In spite of the fights, giggles and mess, I love game nights. It brings us all closer. It is a great way to build bonds.<\/p>\n
