The only must-do item on my list for the 5 day break in Madurai was to read a book each day and I did it.

I picked this book up at a local book store for no reason. I am on a Indian author reading spree and it just fit the ticket. I have never read a book by Sudha Murthy and I am not sure if I will be reading any more of her works.

My biggest issue with this book is the stereotyping. Every character in the book seems to be a reincarnation of a soap opera. I later learned that this book was made into a TV series and it makes total sense. From the mother-in-law with a love for the $$$, an understanding and simple teacher father-in-law, a NRI daughter-in-law who wears western wear and passes off her old sarees as gifts – sigh.

I never regret reading book – it just leaves me sad
