Chennai Book Fair
Chennai Book Fair
I finally made it to the 38th Chennai Book Fair. It has long been on my list on must do things in Chennai and I am glad I had a chance this year. Held at the YMCA grounds, the Book Fair was a book lovers dream. As I type this up, I wonder if I can make an another trip before this year’s fair closes on 21st.
I was pleasantly surprised how well-organised the event was and the options available. Popular titles and quite a few rare gems were all around with good discounts on most books. I barely had time to browse through 50-100 stalls before I was done. I leave you with some pictures.
- And if you know me for long enough you know I have vowed not to buy books. I broke my vow to pick this collection of poems. I am so excited
- National Book Trust stall was a gold mine – great books at very reasonable prices
- I liked the entry way – you literally walk inside a book
- A mobile blood bank right at the entrance.
- Entertainment just outside the venue. Kuttyma was enthralled to see kids dancing
- Kuttyma at the Tullika stall. Tullika remains our favourite
- This was at the Scholastic stall. They had a great collection of classics and workbooks for kids 6+.
- Ragi Kola Puttu being made at the food court
The Chennai Book Fair was one of those times when I wished I read Tamil novels. They had such great collections. Someday perhaps. There was a food court with the usual disappointing fare. I was expecting better. I would recommend the “dhaniya sundal” if you are looking for a quick snack.
They also have a bunch of entertainment in the evenings for adults and kids. I didn’t bother to check it out. The books held my attention.
I still dream about going back.
