Close your eyes

My daughter and me are diametrically opposite when it comes to sleep – I am ready to sleep all day and all night. I can pretty much sleep whenever I want to – a book, a good bed and I am good! But my daughter at the age of 22 months requires less sleep than I do to function. We have had some great bed time battles.

Usually as I tell her to sleep, she lies down and then she realizes she has to read. Just like I do. So out of bed to grab a book. Wide-eyed she sits and reads in bed. She is yet to master the fine art of lying down and reading (she does not know what she is missing – reading in the bed =bliss) And then I ask command her to lie down. She does and is still wide-eyed. The tiniest hint of drowsiness slowly hits her (and I literally hold my breath) and she starts blinking her eyes vigorously. I tell you, she has a great future as a shy heroine in the movies. She blinks and blinks and has it cute damsel in distress look. I am half asleep by now and I ask her to close her eyes and sleep. She blinks and I tell her scream at her “close your eyes”. She takes those tiny fingers and presses them tightly against her eyes. Really tight that I feel uncomfortable. Oh so adorable!

It makes me laugh, every single time!

I am sure she will get out of this stage soon but I just wanted to document something I will never capture on video or photo.
