Phimphan’s Thai – Spotlight Gladstone

I consider Thai food as one of my comfort foods. It is something I go to when I am down and need to cheer up. When the weather cools down there is nothing that warms me up better than spicy, coconuty goodness. Good Thai food with the right balance of flavors does always find a way to cheer me up.

We decided to try Phimphan’s Thai – one of Gladstone’s two Thai restaurants one Friday evening. We were quite early and the only dine-in patrons for quite some time. Takeaway orders seemed to keep the place busy.

Inspite of its rather insipid exteriors, Phim Phan interiors were good – the ambiance was great. It was place you could gather for conversations over bowls of curry. In fact, the other group that occupied a table while we were there was a group of friends planning a wedding or something like that.

We ordered the Tom Kha Gai soup, Satay, Green Curry and Pad Thai.

It took a while for the dishes to come out. The plates were beautiful and the flavor was ok. I have definitely had better Thai food. The soup and the curry were the hits. Satay while my daughter loved them I found them lacking in flavor and the dipping sauce tasted like out-of-a-jar peanut butter.

On our second visit, we had Satay and Thai Fried Rice. Both of the dishes were boring and nothing really to write about.

You should go to Phim Phan Thai if you need to sit-down and catch up with friends and enjoy some curry. We will be back again I am sure.

I do not have pictures of the menu or the food. Hopefully I will get them in next time.

Phimphan’s is located at 10 Tank St, Gladstone, Queensland 4680.
