The year of books

As the year draws to an end, I am getting into a panic mode. I am obsessed with the books I want to read before I travel. I do know that I will end up picking some books at the airport to keep me entertained. I will also hit the library in Houston quite often to stock up (oh did you not know that I am heading to Houston later this week? Oh well now you know) but I am literally obsessing over my GoodReads to-read list and my library shelves.

My behavior shocked me. I had a great run with reading challenges and books this year. I read and read a lot. As of today, I have read 87 never-read-before books and re-read 15 books this year. A great achievement. Solo parenting, traveling, full-time job, moving overseas and books kept me sane this year. I still don’t understand why I am getting obsessed and panicky.

I need to calm down and just enjoy the books and not worry about reading every book printed. Sigh! Maybe I need to pick another hobby to balance out my reading obsession.

I will try to remember 2013 with pride –  the year I made an effort to expand my reading horizon and succeeded. It was not easy.

Happy Reading!
